New Jersey Dems alott $15 million to Cooper in budget proposal

In the budget committee hearings scheduled today in New Jersey, Cooper University Hospital has a chance to fare very well. As part of the $30.6 billion proposal from state Democrats, the hospital is tapped to receive $15 million.

The new Rowan Medical School and Cooper Cancer Institute would both receive funding under the plan, though Gov. Chris Christie has already picked a few bones with the plan.

The cancer center, on which construction recently began, would get $11.4 million, as NJ.com reports, and the medical school would receive $2.77 million in unused funds from the previous fiscal year.

WHYY’s Phil Gregory will have more later on the budget.
