New Jersey arts council director resigns after many requests from Guadagno

Steve Runk, executive director of the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, has resigned. The 20-year staffer drafted a two-paragraph letter tendering his resignation, which Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno has been calling for for months.

Since July, Guadagno has been pushing for Runk’s dismissal for ethics codes violations, NJ.com reports, and last month said an audit found Runk has signed more than $300,000 in no-bid contracts.

Runk has offered to stay on until July 31 to help transition the new executive director.
