New Jersey announces cooling discount for seniors, disabled

Later this month, 182,000 New Jersey households with senior or disabled residents will receive home cooling discounts as part of a federal program.

Gov. Chris Christie made the announcement today in Hasbrouck Heights. The money will go to residents already enrolled in the federal Low Income Home Energy Assistance program.

NJ.com reports those getting assistance can expect the $100 in assistance to come as a separate check or a utility bill credit.
