New ‘food lovers’ guide’ tries to expand Philly’s culinary reputation

A new food book about Philadelphia is trying to convince readers that there’s more to the City of Brotherly Love than cheesesteaks and pretzels.

The Food Lovers’ Guide to Philadelphia, by suburban food writer Iris McCarthy, is being touted as a compilation of Philly’s greatest hits, from tourist favorites to hidden gems — food festivals, farmers markets, specialty shops, wineries and brewpubs.

What are some of your favorite dining experiences in the city? Tell us about your favorite place to picnic, the best place to get seafood, who has the best vegetarian food.
