Never enough time in the day? Sit still for a minute

Time is a precious resource in people’s lives – with so many of us feeling like we’re always running, trying to catch up on work or family responsibilities. What’s this constant busyness all about – and are we really that busy?

WHYY’s Behavioral Health reporter Maiken Scott and psychologist Dan Gottlieb discuss time and time management in their weekly conversation.

Dan quotes the work of neuroscientist Candace Pert, who has said that we become “addicted” in some way to our predominant emotion. So, if we’re always living on an adrenalin rush, chances are we have gotten used to that “high”.

Gottlieb suggests to sit still for a while (no smart phones or tablets, please), and really examine what that feels like – to get a better sense of how we would and could handle being less busy.
