Neighborhood group brings abandoned Settlement property back from blight

The house at 48 E. Penn St. is getting the full treatment.

Long abandoned by Germantown Settlement, the large, rambling house is getting some TLC from the Wister Neighborhood Council. A crew of about 50 volunteers from the neighborhood; Ready, Willing & Able; and the bank that now owns the property has been working to bring order back to the house.

Judging from these additional photos Tom Sharpless shared with us, fixing up the house had involved first clearing the brush and overgrowth blocking access to it.
