NBC correspondent at Pentagon attack to be Flight 93 speaker
The NBC News reporter who first reported the attack on the Pentagon during the Sept. 11, 2001 terror strikes will be the keynote speaker at the 14th anniversary observance at the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania.
Chief Pentagon correspondent Jim Miklaszewski was in his office when he reported an explosion at the Defense Department’s headquarters at 9:38 a.m. that day.
It turned out that hijacked American Airlines Flight 77 had been crashed into the Pentagon.
Four other hijackers aboard United Airlines Flight 93 are believed to have had plans to crash that plane into the U.S. Capitol. Instead, the 40 passengers and crew fought with the hijackers and forced the plane to crash near Shanksville, where the annual national memorial observance will be held next month.
