NBA players reject latest contract offer; season in jeopardy

NBA players have rejected the latest contract offer from league owners, potentially putting the season in jeopardy.

The Sixers’ website says the team will first play Dec. 15, but after a month of cancellations and suspensions and a recent promise from owners to make negotiations harder, the start of the 2011 season doesn’t appear to be anywhere in sight.

Sporting News reports the union has served a notice of disclaimer of interest, meaning players will instead function as a trade association and take legal action against the league. A lawsuit could be just days away.
