My moment on The Daily Show
This happened two Mondays ago, the day before the election, when I was too busy to pay much attention to it. But in a very funny bit you can watch above, The Daily Show’s Jon Stewart took on the notion that NPR pushes a liberal agenda as aggressively as Fox News and conservative talk radio push their point of view.
And deep into the piece, close friends and relatives could discern my voice from a Fresh Air interview. Which is pretty cool, except that Stewart played my stuff as an example of NPR being obscure and boring on a day when explosive political news is breaking (John Boehner had just walked out of budget talks).
I’m happy to be Stewart’s punch line, but I will plug the interview he mocked, which is one of my favorite ever on Fresh Air.
It’s with Mark Moffett, who has a truly amazing book about the bizarre things different species of ants do around the world. Listen, and I promise you won’t be disappointed. The book is called Adventures Among Ants: A Global Safari with a Cast of Trillions, and you can hear the interview here.
