Murphy will run for Pennsylvania Attorney General

No Democrat has been Pennsylavnia Attorney General since it became an elected position.

Patrick Murphy hopes to change that. The former 8th District congressman tells WHYY he plans to run for the position in the 2012 election.

Muprhy tells Lizz Fiedler he plans to win the race because the people of Pennsylvanians need someone who will protect them from criminals on the streets and from special interests. He says as someone outside Harrisburg he can root out corruption.

“In Congress I fought to put more cops on the street and as a son of a Philadelphia police officer I know how important public safety is,” Murphy said. “And more importantly, I know how important it is to have someone standing up for Pennsylvania families.”
