Multiple concerts, fireworks shows part of Welcome America event

Wawa Welcome America returns this summer, and because Fourth of July falls in the middle of the week, Philly will have two solid weekends of concerts and fireworks. Mayor Michael Nutter announced the details today in Franklin Square. All the usual Welcome America events are back, including the popular Wawa Hoagie Day, Parkway concerts and fireworks.

The Roots are back as concert headliners, bringing Daryl Hall, Joe Jonas, Common and other performers with them. Four concerts and three fireworks shows are scheduled between June 25 and July 7, and movie and education series are also planned.

And yes, the all-you-can eat ice cream festival is back, too.
