A 64-year-old Mt. Airy woman died Wednesday after being struck by a car near the SEPTA regional-rail station within two blocks of her home.

Karen Glaser, 64, was crossing the street at Sprague St. and E. Gowen Ave., near the Mt. Airy Station, when she was struck by a 1997 Jeep Wrangler around 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Glaser, of the 300 block of E. Gowen St., was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center with head and other injuries, but was pronounced dead just after 9 p.m., according to Philadelphia Police.

The driver remained at the scene, and charges are not expected to be filed in the case, according to a department spokesperson.
