A 65-year-old Ocean County man was killed Wednesday night when he was struck by another vehicle on Route 70 in Manchester, police say.

John Rolick of Whiting was heading west on Route 70 shortly after 9 p.m. As he slowed to turn left onto Roosevelt City Road, his motorcycle was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Christian Merrill, 19, of Pemberton, according to a Manchester police release.

Rolick was then thrown from the Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was wearing a helmet. But he was unconscious and didn’t have a pulse when police arrived, the release said.

Police performed CPR but Rolick died at the scene. Merrill and a passenger were examined at the scene for complaints of pain but refused additional medical attention.
