Moore College establishes scholarship in memory of Happy Fernandez

    A scholarship fund as been set up to help Moore College of Art students named for its former president, Happy Fernandez.

    Fernandez died in mid-January from complications of a stroke. She was 73.”We are aware of Happy’s many long-lasting contributions to Moore and are inspired when reflecting upon her major accomplishments,” the college’s scholarship announcement reads. “Happy devoted her life to making a difference and was a role model who will be deeply missed.”

    Prior to her 13 years as Moore president, Fernandez served two terms on Philadelphia City Council and ran for mayor.

    The college will have a ceremony for her Feb. 21.
