Montgomery County sheriff moving to Drexel U.

Montgomery County Sheriff Eileen Behr is leaving that position to become the director of police operations for Drexel University.

In a statement Friday, Behr said the move will let her get back to what she loves, which is “working with and mentoring young people, and coming up with new solutions to improve neighborhoods.”

Behr was the first woman to serve as sheriff and chief of police in the suburban Philadelphia county. She previously served as Whitemarsh Township’s Chief of Police.

A sheriff’s department spokeswoman said Chief Deputy Sheriff Alfred Ricci will likely assume Behr’s duties until a replacement is found.
