Monsignor says he unknowingly transferred accused priest

Could Msgr. John T. Conway be the Hope Moffett of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia? Conway is speaking out, saying he’s angry the diocese covered up a abuse claims against a priest that Conway helped relocate.

The Philadelphia Inquirer obtained a letter Conway sent to Cardinal Justin Rigali earlier this month, saying when he was a regional vicar he was kept in the dark about the alleged crimes.

Conway helped relocate David C. Sicoli in the ’90s, when Conway oversaw parishes in South Philadelphia. Sicoli was defrocked in 2008 after a 2005 grand jury report connected him with abuse cases dating back to the ’70s. Conway’s role is mentioned in the 2005 report.
