Widespread moderate to heavy rain activity is nearing the Jersey Shore shortly before 1:30 p.m. Monday.

After periods of precipitation since the overnight hours, the activity approaching could possibly drop over a half of an inch of rain, according to the National Weather Service.

The activity “may cause ponding of water along area roadways,” a NWS Short Term Forecast advises. “If you will be driving, please reduce your speed and allow extra travel time to reach your destination.”

Thunderstorms are possible along the coast, according to the NWS Storm Prediction Center.
