Missing 2-year-old found dead in neighbor’s pool

Police in Atlantic County say a missing 2-year-old child has died.

Authorities say the toddler was found unresponsive in a neighbor’s pool in on S. Pitney Road in Galloway Sunday morning after police received a report of a missing child.

Arriving police began canvassing the area and called in additional resources from the surrounding area. That’s when the child was discovered in the pool and police officers and emergency medical technicians administered CPR.

First responders rushed the toddler to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus where the child was pronounced dead.

In addition to Galloway police, firefighters, and emergency medical technicians, additional responders included the Stockton University Police Department, Absecon Police Department, Atlantic County Sheriff Department K-9 Unit, and the New Jersey State Police Aviation Unit.

    An investigation is ongoing.

The drowning comes after two other water-related deaths involving children in July. A 6-year-old girl drowned in a motel swimming pool in Wildwood, and a 4-year-old girl died days after she was rescued from a private lake in Ocean View.
