Middletown approves construction of Amazon distribution center

In a vote last night, Middletown Council approved the construction of an Amazon distribution center in Delaware.

The 1.2 million square foot site on Classic Drive joins a distribution facility in New Castle, and the Cecil Whig of Maryland reports Amazon has applied for a financial package from Delaware.
In December, the Delaware Council on Development Finance has allocated more than $3.47 million from the Strategic Fund toward construction costs.

The new facility could open as early as Fall 2012.
