Metropolis: Ten block stretch of South Street storefronts has 16 percent vacancy rate

According to public affairs news reporting site Metropolis, South Street has seen better times. The district, from Front Street to 11th Street and Lombard to Bainbridge, has 38 vacant storefronts, including 10 landmark businesses which recently departed. The western end of the corridor, though — anchored by WholeFoods and Superfresh — is thriving.
