Four Pennsylvania men are facing charges after allegedly assaulting lifeguards and police officers Tuesday afternoon in Ocean City, authorities say.

The incident occurred on the 8th Street beach at about 4:30 p.m. when police officers were dispatched to assist lifeguards who were dealing with intoxicated people that were causing a disturbance, according to police.

Authorities say the group was assaulting the lifeguards when police officers arrived. The men then turned on the officers.

That’s when two of the five men ran onto the boardwalk, police say. Lifeguards and police gave chase and captured them. Three were arrested on the beach.
