Marlton wins another World Pokemon championship

Ray Rizzo is now a two-time World Pokemon champ, after clinching his second title last month in San Diego.

The Marlton resident and Drake University sophomore talked about his victory with Inquirer columnists Kevin Riordan. Rizzo started playing when he was just 6, at the height of the Pokemon craze, but says its complexities require a diligence you’ll only find in games like chess. Or actuarial science, which Rizzo studies.

Rizzo’s win gets him a $7,500 scholarship and a free trip to next year’s tournament in Hawaii.
