TALK: Rafael Moneo

Monday, March 31, 6:30-8:30pm. PennDesign, Meyerson Hall, 210 South 34th Street. Join PennDesign in welcoming celebrated architect Jose Rafael Moneo for the annual Kohn Pedersen Fox Lecture. Moneo is a Pritzker Prize winning architect known for international projects, such as Madrid’s Bankinter Building and an addition to the Prado Museum, as well as American works including the Houston Museum of Fine Arts and the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels in Los Angeles. Free.

DISCUSS: Historic Streets Restoration Program

Tuesday, April 1, 6:15-8:15pm. Starr Garden, 600 Lombard St. Councilman Mark Squilla and a representative of the Streets Department will share updates on the historic streets restoration program. This will also be an opportunity for public input on various ideas and concerns about street restoration and maintenance. Free.

DIALOGUE: CHOP Expansion at Civic Design Review, Community Meeting

Tuesday, April 1, 1pm. Civic Design Review, 1515 Arch Street, Room 18029. Wednesday, April 2, 5:45-7:45pm. The Philadelphia School, 2501 South Street. CHOP will present its plans for a Schuylkill Avenue research campus to Civic Design Review on April 1 and at a jointly hosted community meeting on April 2.

WALK: National Walking Day

Wednesday, April 2. Pedestrian advocacy group Feet First Philly joins the American Heart Association in celebrating National Walking Day by encouraging people to take walking meetings, group walks, and wear sneakers to work. (You have our permission.)

LECTURE: Richard T.T. Forman

Thursday, April 3, 6-7:30pm. PennDesign, Meyerson Hall, 210 South 34th Street. For PennDesign’s annual Ian McHarg Lecture, Richard Forman, a Harvard professor, will present his scholarly work on urban ecology. Free.

EXPLORE: Secret Courtyards and Gardens of Queen Village and Bella Vista

Thursday, April 3. 5:30pm – 7:30pm. Meet at 3rd and Bainbridge fountain. Join the Parks Alliance for a walking tour with Bob Thomas of hidden garden and park treasures in Queen Village and Bella Vista.
