Man killed by train identified

The man killed by an Amtrak train Thursday at Holmesburg Junction has been identified as Steven Sumaliki.

The 25-year-old Holmesburg resident had reportedly been spotted near the station by Amtrak police earlier in the day, and was driven home when authorities believed he was intoxicated.

Sumaliki was struck by the train at 9:16 p.m., and the medical examiner’s officer is treating his death as a suicide.
