Man killed, 13-year-old grazed by bullet in East Germantown shooting

A 21-year-old East Germantown man was shot and killed Saturday afternoon during an incident in which a 13-year-old suffered a graze wound from a bullet, police said.

Keenan Gaskins was found in the 5600 block of Nelson St. with a single gunshot wound to the chest at 3:07 p.m.

Gaskins, who lived on the 900 block of E. Woodlawn Ave., which is near the crime scene, was transported to Albert Einstein Medical Center where he was declared dead at 3:31 p.m., police said. He was awaiting a May 31 preliminary hearing stemming from a January arrest on drug charges at the time of his slaying.

A police spokeswoman said that a 13-year-old was treated for a graze wound to his left arm by medics at the scene and released.

Investigators offered no information about possible suspects or motive on Monday morning.
