Man charged in fatal heroin overdose near Philadelphia

A man has been charged with drug delivery resulting in death stemming from a fatal overdose near Philadelphia last fall.

Authorities say 26-year-old James Collins, of Sharon Hill, also faces charges including intent to deliver and involuntary manslaughter.

Police say they found a 28-year-old man who overdosed in a Secane home in October.

Authorities say they found a blue wax paper bag at the scene. The bag had been stamped with the word “BIG” in red ink and a picture of a red apple.

Investigators say they bought heroin in similar packaging from Collins.

State police confirmed the heroin contained fentanyl, an opioid that’s 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine.

Defense attorney Enrique Latoison tells the Delaware County Daily Times that he looks forward to their day in court.
