Man arrested after Philly ambulance carjacking

Police say a Philadelphia man carjacked an ambulance with a patient inside and then bailed out on a busy highway.

State Police say Friday that 25-year-old Brian T. Kada Jr. is in custody.

Kada allegedly confronted an ambulance crew with a gun and commandeered the vehicle, which was transporting a patient to a hospital. Authorities say Kada pulled over on Interstate 76 and took off running.

    Police quickly caught him.

The female patient was taken to the hospital in another ambulance. Authorities say she didn’t have a medical emergency.

It’s unclear what prompted the incident.

WPVI-TV says Kada appeared agitated while being taken into custody, and was shouting about a lottery ticket.

It’s not clear if Kada has an attorney. He’s facing kidnapping, assault, and other charges.
