Lower Merion wins state award for new parking meters

“Innovate parking meters” is not an oxymoron, as it turns out.

Just ask Lower Merion. The township’s Parking Services Department just won the “Award Of Excellence for Parking Innovation” from the Pennsylvania Parking Association.

The Main Line Times reports the meters’ free time button, high-visibility displays, smart-lock system, closed-can collection system refundable smart-card reader put the devices over the top to beat out four competitors at last week’s Parking Conference, Workshop & Exhibition.
