Local Tea Party groups sponsor school choice bill debate

Not all Tea Party members support Pennsylvania’s SB 1 school choice bill. In response, the Independence Hall Tea Party Association and UNITEPA of Lancaster will sponsor a debate Sunday at the Independence Visitor Center.

WPHT talk show host Dom Giordano will moderate the debate between supporters Pa. Sen. Anthony Williams and Students First Executive Director, Rev. Joe Watkins; and the bill’s opponents: Freindly Fire Zone columnist and former Reach Alliance Executive Director, Chris Freind, and Pa. Rep. Curt Schroder of Chester County.

“If SB 1 passes the Senate and becomes law, as currently written, it will be a major disappointment to  middle class parents who are being told that the bill will offer them real choice,” Tea Party Association President Teri Adams said in a promotion for The Great School Choice Debate. “When we voted for a Republican majority in the General Assembly and for a Republican Governor, we expected they would work hard to enact policies that would seek to improve educational opportunities for all Commonwealth students.  This bill does not reflect that reality.”
