Local Acme associates face layoffs amid Supervalu job cuts

    Acme Markets parent company Supervalu Inc. plans to cuts jobs, and some of them are in our region.

    Of the 800 cuts expected later this month, 25 are planned for the Malvern-based Acme Markets regional office, the Inquirer reports.
    This is the second round of Acme cuts in less than a year. In April, 900 unionized Acme workers were cut. It was then that a Temple University business professor questioned the role of the self-checkout.
