Almost three years after destroyed by Hurricane Sandy, a Sea Bright institution is once again keeping patrons happy under tiki roofs.

Donovan’s Reef, the lively beach bar with a laid back vibe, is back, reopening yesterday after securing final borough approvals.

“Congratulations and welcome back,” tweeted Sea Bright Mayor Dina Long.

The marquee sign along Ocean Avenue now reads, “SANDY WHO? WE ARE OPEN.”

The open-air tiki bar and temporary structures are now open, with a permanent building slated for construction. Various issues, including finances and possible deed restrictions, kept the business from reopening last year.

For decades, the spot has been well-known as a live music venue, even attracting surprise guests like Bruce Springsteen

Donovan’s Reef Tiki Bar is located at 1171 Ocean Avenue. Hours are 9:00 a.m. until midnight, seven days a week.
