Learn how to redistrict Philly before City Council takes a vote

Tonight is the last night to learn how to use the FixPhillyDistricts web-based redistricting tool. We’re closing in on the deadline for the public to submit their ideal councilmanic district boundaries, and City Council will hold its public sessions next month.

So if you missed the other webinars and couldn’t make it to our public workshop last week, here’s one of your last chances to take redistricting into your own hands, instead of leaving it up to council. Register here.

Tonight’s webinar training, provided by Azavea, starts at 6:30 p.m. WHYY’s Tom MacDonald talked to Councilwoman Maria Quinones-Sanchez about the process. She came to last week’s event co-sponsored by Philly.com, the Daily News Editorial Board, Azavea and the Penn Project for Civic Engagement.

Sanchez heads the city’s 7th District, which happens to be one of the most gerrymandered in the nation. She says that’s something she’s working to change.
