Last one standing: Hard Rock files only application to build smaller-scale casino

    A new program that allows the state Casino Control Commission in New Jersey to issue licenses for two smaller-scale Boardwalk Casinos only has one group interested in participating.

    According to the Press of Atlantic City, Hard Rock International filed the only application to build a smaller-scale casino under the new program.

    The Press of Atlantic City reports two other would-be developers dropped out, leaving Hard Rock International as the sole group to develop one of two smaller-scale casinos.

    Friday was the deadline for interested parties to file their applications.

    According to the report, since only one application was received, the commission is allowed to solicit new expressions of interest at a future date for the second available project.
