La Cosa Nostra: Philly mobster sentenced for racketeering
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Prosecutors say a man charged in a Philadelphia mob case has been sentenced to more than four years in prison.
Fifty-nine-year-old Gaeton Lucibello pleaded guilty last month to participating in a racketeering conspiracy involving extortion and illegal gambling. Authorities say he admitted that he assisted in shaking down a bookmaker for “street tax” payments and operated two illegal video poker machine businesses.
A federal judge in Philadelphia sentenced Lucibello on Friday to 51 months in prison plus three years supervised release.
Lucibello was among 14 alleged members of Philadelphia’s La Cosa Nostra family charged with crimes involving racketeering conspiracy, extortion and loan sharking. Besides Lucibello, two others have pleaded guilty. They are awaiting sentencing.
Eight are scheduled for trial Oct. 9. Trial for three others has not yet been scheduled.
