Kayakers rescue two after sailboat capsizes in Navesink River

    Two were rescued by Good Samaritans after their sailboat capsized in the Navesink River off Red Bank late this morning.

    Red Bank police say that the two were in the chilly water for about 15 minutes after their boat flipped over around 11 a.m.

    They were rescued by two kayakers who spotted them and rowed over from a nearby dock, according to a report on redbankgreen.com.

    The incident occurred near a private dock on Alston Court, the report said.

    The pair were soon taken back to shore, where they were treated for exposure.

    The Coast Guard responded to the scene and is assisting with the recovery of the boat.

    The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
