Julie Hermann is new Rutgers athletic director

    Rutgers University has chosen Julie Hermann to replace Tim Pernetti as athletic directorPernetti resigned in April following the release of video of now-former basketball coach Mike Rice throwing balls at players and using anti-gay slurs.

    Hermann, most recently the No. 2 athletic administrator at Louisville, will be the first woman ever to run Rutgers’ athletic department.

    The Star-Ledger reports Hermann was chosen by an emergency Board of Governors vote this morning that followed a deadlock within the Executive Athletic Committee.
