Judge denies injunction request for Pa. Medicaid changes

A judge has denied a preliminary injunction request to stop benefits changes for Pennsylvania Medicaid recipients.

The motion was filed by Philadelphia-based Community Legal Services in an attempt to halt the changes before they go into effect Jan. 1.  The nonprofit claims the state insurance plans are inadequate for low-income Pennsylvanians after an overhaul by the Corbett administration.

In a statement released when the suit was filed last week, the Corbett administration defended the changes. Officials pointed out that many of the alterations to the insurance program were approved already by the federal government.
