John Street won’t run again for mayor in Philadelphia

Former Philadelphia Mayor John F. Street has decided not to make an independent bid for a third term in November.

Street, who served two terms as a Democrat, switched his registration to independent. He said he was thinking about challenging his successor and Democratic rival, Michael Nutter.

The Associated Press reports Street said in an e-mail Wednesday that he will not run either for mayor or for an at-large City Council seat.
