Joey Merlino’s mob life could make it to the big screen

Just because he’s out of prison doesn’t mean Joey Merlino is out of our the headlines.

The former Scarfo family mob boss could soon be profiled on the big screen. He’s in talks with local actor/screenwriter Leo Rossi about a biopic.

Rossi confirms to the Daily News he’s talked with Skinny Joey about the idea, similar to the film Rossi scripted about gangster John Gotti. That film has some big names attached to it and will shoot in New York.

No telling if the Merlino film would shoot here, given the trend of Philly-based movies being set in or filmed elsewhere. World War Z, anyone?
