Joey Dawejko remains undefeated
Joey Dawejko remains undefeated as a pro, with two wins, including his most recent win Friday, Feb. 5, at The Blue Horizon in North Philadelphia. (More photos below.)
Dawejko, a junior heavyweight champion before turning pro last September, easily bested Ricardo Johnson in 47 seconds of the first round of what was to have been a four-round bout. A soft-spoken gentleman, Dawejko is not soft with his punches. If he has a jab, he didn’t show it, choosing instead to rely on punishing body shots with both his right and his left to put Johnson down on his knee.
A Northeast native, “Joltin’ Joey D” trains at Costello’s Gym in Tacony under Haseem Rahman and Steve Nelson. The 19-year-old became the youngest gold medalist in the US Olympic Eastern Trials when he was just 16.
