In search of a typewriter

Well, Tricia we were going to simply point you in the direction of the repository of all things obsolete: eBay.

WHYY’s Peter Crimmins reported about a” type-in” at 30th Street Station.  Tricia asked: Where can I buy a typewriter and how much do they cost?

Well, Tricia we were going to simply point you in the direction of the repository of all things obsolete: eBay.

However, Type-In organizer Mike McGettigan says there are two excellent places you can go to inquire and perhaps haggle with a connoisseur of clickety-clack, but neither are local: Brooklyn Writing Machines and Cambridge Typewriter of Boston.

An old typewriter in good condition can cost hundreds of dollars; if you’re willing to expend some elbow grease you can still find a clunker on eBay for about 50 dollars and shine it up.
