    However, Type-In organizer Mike McGettigan says there are two excellent places you can go to inquire and perhaps haggle with a connoisseur of clickety-clack, but neither are local: Brooklyn Writing Machines and Cambridge Typewriter of Boston.

    An old typewriter in good condition can cost hundreds of dollars; if you’re willing to expend some elbow grease you can still find a clunker on eBay for about 50 dollars and shine it up.
