    After Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever to make landfall in recorded history, the news coming out of the islands of the central Philippines is grim. 

    The storm caused 10,000 fatalities in the central Philippine province of Leyte, according to various published reports. The Guardian is covering the aftermath in real-time

    “The devastation is, I don’t have the words for it,” Phillippine Interior Secretary Mar Roxas told the Associated Press. “It’s really horrific. It’s a great human tragedy.”
