Bills to allow Internet gambling and help subsidize race horse breeders are expected to advance in the New Jersey Legislature.
The Associated Press reports the Assembly Budget Committee will consider the bills today.
The Internet gambling would be run by Atlantic City casinos and would include all games, including poker, that can be played at casinos.
The state would tax Internet betting proceeds at a rate of 20 percent.
The bill also envisions the state giving casinos permission to cut deals with race tracks to open Internet betting terminals at the tracks.
Another bill would establish a New Jersey Standardbred and Thoroughbred Racehorse Incentive Fund to assist the state’s horse breeding industry.
