Horsham company to pay hazardous waste fine

    Speaking of hazardous waste.

Mace Security International Inc. of Horsham will pay a $100,000 fine to the federal government for hazardous waste violations dating as far back as 1998. Subsidiary Mace Personal Defense Inc. of Vermont reached a deal late last week with the feds, as PhillyBurbs reports.

A grand jury report released in November charged the company with illegally storing hazardous waste at its Vermont site between 1998 and 2008, including ore than 80 drums of unlabeled chemicals. Mace has spent almost $800,000 cleaning up the site. Charges against the company and its founder are pending.
