Heavy residual delays on Route 9 in Howell following accident

UPDATE: Traffic has improved significantly at 5:00 p.m.

Motorists can expect heavy residual delays on Route 9 through Howell following an accident that resulted in a road closure early afternoon Tuesday.

The highway was closed in both directions until around 2:50 p.m., according to a report on Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS, a news outlet that covers breaking news in Monmouth County.

The closure was due to a truck striking a utility pole and taking down wires, the report said.
