Hamilton Board of Education assists with contamination cleanup

Groundwater pollution dating back 30 years has found its way to the Hamilton Board of Education.

Continued monitoring of a decades-old illegal dumping site turned up groundwater contamination on a piece of the BOE’s property near William Davies Middle School in Mays Landing.

The board approved access yesterday for extraction and monitoring wells, the Press of Atlantic City reports, but clean-up of the whole area could take several years. There is no present risk to anyone in the area, but if left neglected, that could change. Work on the BOE property is expected to be completed by October.
