Hackers target Zappos in stealing account information

Hackers accessed the account information of 24 million customers of the online shoe retailer Zappos, said CEO Tony Hsieh.

Email, billing, and shipping addresses were compromised along with phone numbers and the last four digits of customers’ credit cards, reports MyFoxPhilly.

“We were recently the victim of a cyber attack by a criminal who gained access to parts of our internal network and systems through one of our servers in Kentucky,” said Hsieh in a written statement.

Hsieh reassured customers that credit card information was not stolen and that Zappos will work with law enforcement in an ongoing investigation about the security breach.
