Grey Lodge named one of America’s 100 best beer bars

Homebrewing might be popular, but there’s still plenty of space in people’s hearts for good old-fashioned bars.

And Draft magazine is celebrating them. The magazine came out with its list of the country’s 100 best beer bars recently, broken down by region. Not only are four Philadelphia bars on the list, Northeast Philly’s Grey Lodge Pub is one of them.

The bar “feels like the same lodge granddad would have escaped to for a few rounds of lager with his war buddies,” as the mag describes. “The laid-back atmosphere and friendly banter remains, but the Lodge’s strict keg-rotating policy and emphasis on fresh regional craft is certainly 21st century.”

The other Philly bars to get nods are Eulogy, Memphis Taproom and Monk’s. All four, plus Standard Tap, made Draft’s 2012 list, too.
