Green Lane closed from Main St. to Manayunk Ave.

Water Department crews have begun work to replace the water and sewer mains on Green Lane, between Main St. and Manayunk Ave. in Manayunk.

As a result of the construction, that section of the street will be closed to traffic Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.  It will be opened back up before and after construction working hours and on weekends.

Traffic access will still be provided to local residents and merchants on Green Lane.

In a press release, the Philadelphia Water Department said construction will begin with water main replacement work, which will then be followed by sewer main replacement.

The construction is scheduled to be complete on or around November 10, 2011.

Drivers traveling from the Belmont Ave. exit off the Schuylkill Expressway can follow this detour: 

Follow Green Lane to Main St. 

Left onto Main St. 

Right onto Leverington Ave. 

Right onto Manayunk Ave. 

Left onto Green Lane
