    Green Countrie Towne

When William Penn and Thomas Holme mapped out Philadelphia, the renderings included lots of sprawling properties, waterfront access and town squares.

Much of that has been lost (some rather soon after Penn’s settlement) in parts of Philadelphia. But as Alan Tu and Peter Tobia point out, Chestnut Hill seems to have maintained many of Penn’s Green Countrie Town plans.
